What I Learned At The County Fair

As a kid I was always amazed by the Midway at the County Fair. Don’t really know why, but the chance to lay down a dime and to possibly carry home a large bottle of my favorite pop or a goldfish in a bowl was luring to me. As I got older, the price for these games of chance had increased to a quarter and I was no longer after the bottle of pop or the gold fish in a bowl. I was older now…I was after the after the big prize …The coveted stuffed animal!

Credit Scores

Have you wondered why all the emphasis on knowing your credit score? Why is your credit score so important? Does your credit score really make that much of a difference? Most importantly, what is a credit score anyway?

Monday Morning Recap, February 6

What a great day at Oakbrook! I'm so proud of those of who decided to follow Christ into the waters of baptism. I love watching the actual baptisms happen. Seeing small group leaders and friends and parents surround those being baptized-such a picture of influence and love. We are celebrating baptism again this Sunday and it is not to late to get signed up...http://www.oakbrookchurch.com/baptism/

Monday Morning Recap, January 30

Happy Monday Everybody! Hope your week is off to a great start. The Guardrail series was such a great series for me and I hope it was for you as well. And I'm so proud of the 75+ people who picked up one of the 90 Day Tithe Challenge packets. Way to go! We ran out of packets in both services-sorry. If you did not get one you can go online and get the information here...http://www.oakbrookchurch.com/tithe I will be praying for all of you this week as you look over the challenge and make a decision. Don't let fear lead you. Pray and do what God commands you to do. He can be trusted!

Dollars and Sense

Hopefully you were here yesterday and heard Mark talk about "Give, Save & Live". I don't know about you, but finding that balance between being a responsible saver and an irresponsible hoarder can be difficult. It even creates some "healthy tension" in our home. Well, this tension has carried over into the financial world. Economist are now arguing about whether we as Americans should be saving more or spending more. Some economist are actually worried that Americans are saving too much now and that our lack of spending is bad for the economy. So, who's right? The economist who thinks its our duty to spend more for the good of the country or the economist who thinks that it is in our best interest to save more?

Truth that will protect you from major regret down the road. If you weren't there here are some of my notes: Flee, Baby, Flee! The talk was about establishing sexual guardrails in your life and centered around the truth found in I Corinthians 6:18-19. Married Guardrails:

Wow...I still can’t can’t get over all this sunshine and warmer temps! I saw several people on the golf course yesterday. Enjoy it while we can! Hope your week is off to a productive start. I really enjoyed the fantastic teaching we received yesterday from Andy Stanley. I watched that talk 3 times and each time I learned something new. Praying that all of us will make wise relational choices as we continue to pursue Christ Centeredness.
