Monday Morning Recap, 02.01
Another great day at Oakbrook! Some of my thoughts…
How cool was it to see all the kids and leaders in UpStreet walking around in their PJ’s yesterday? Yesterday was UpStreet’s annual Pajama Party…lots of fun! I wonder what first-time visitors thought seeing kids walking around in PJ’s ![]()
Several adults ask me if we could have an adult Pajama Party on a Sunday…uh…no…but if you join the Upstreet team you can!
I’m so thankful for Jeremy and Mandy Carter…modern day Lion Chasers! Their influence at Oakbrook is profound and legendary. They will be greatly missed. But I’m so excited to see what God has in store for them next! Please join me as we pray them into God’s next assignment for their lives.
Seriously you guys…is there a more important, God honoring, Biblical, significant mission than Oakbrook’s? Helping people find Jesus and live like him. Our mission matters! It is worth the investment of your one and only life. Remember we can only accomplish our mission if you live it out in your life.
Jason Braun told me there was a line of people at Discover Oakbrook after the service! Love it when new people come!!!! Way to go all you influencers who are inviting your friends to join you on Sunday!
Do you have a buddy…a friend…a partner that you are pursuing Christ with? Yesterday I said we want everyone who calls Oakbrook their church to be in a 1 on 1 disciplining relationship. I’m serious about this…we must make this happen! So get hooked up with someone you come to Oakbrook with or someone in your small group or join a small group and find a friend. Remember…spiritual growth happens best in the context of loving relationships.
Pray for these people this week: Jessica Stout-she is having open-heart surgery Wednesday to replace a heart value. Steve Granger and his family (Angie and Andy Jansen)-Wanda Granger (Steve’s wife and Angie’s mom) passed away this week after a long battle with cancer. I did her funeral yesterday afternoon-she was a great lady who will be missed.
Keep praying for Curtis Stout and Bruce Donaldson as they serve God in Haiti.
Big thanks to Joel Larison, Cameron and Karissa Sprinkle and the whole team who led us into God’s presence at the Worship and Prayer Service last night. Two words describe the night-intimate and powerful. I had another one of those worship experiences where I pour my heart out to God in worship and adoration and He fills my heart back up with joy!
I can’t wait to share Pt. 2 of our Mission next Sunday! Be there and bring someone with you. I will be sharing some fresh learning’s I have had recently about generosity and serving.
One more thing…Bridges Outreach needs 200 more mentors to influence kids in our local schools. Give them a call and make a difference in a kid’s life…765-452-5723.
As always…Don’t Just Jabber About It…take some action this week and…Be About It!
Love Doing Church With You Guys,
Mark
